HOWS YOUR POSTURE?

Ok so today officially marks day #9 that I have been sick and frustration is an understatement! It's been a rough, long 8 days to say the least. I mean I have been down and out for the whole Christmas holiday! It's funny how the basic every day things we do seem so futil until we can't actually do them.

I have a routine or I guess you can say a place and posture I normally pray. (Kneeling on my prayer pad or walking through my house praying) but being sick zapped all my energy and all I could do was sit or lay down in bed and pray. Can I be honest?  I have to say it was a little uncomfortable at first to just sit there and pray because it's not my "norm." But I love how God shows up when we are at our weakest.  God began to speak to me and minister to me like never before! And He answered my prayer that same day! And He continued to answer during these last few days! Wow! I'm so glad He loves me! He was just letting me know it's the posture of your heart that's most important!

Pray on!

ONE STEP AT A TIME!

OK. So  I have been trying to write this blog post for weeks now and something kept getting in my way. So I almost said never mind because I was suppose to have this posted months ago! But then like the whole point of this blog, I decided to keep writing when I could and eventually I knew I would have it completed!
So believe me when I say I know the feeling of statements like Forget it! Never mind! It's too late! What's the use! It's taking too long!
So with all that being said...

I'm always pierced when I hear someone say they have something they really want to do (a goal), a destination, a "Plan A", BUT it will take too long so they choose to do something else, change up the destination, and decide to go with "Plan B" . It's as if by choosing "Plan B"  time will stand still, be shortened or speed up!
Have you ever been there?

I guess my past experience is the reason why it pierces my core when I hear it because as they say I been there done that many times!

And if truth be told, if I could go back and do it over, I would have went with plan A period! No matter how long it takes! I was overweight and I wanted to lose weight so bad!! but (Plan A) a year of eating right and exercising seemed like an eternity! So I chose a so called quick fix, a shorter process, a  plan "B"  in hopes of getting same results! So I thought. This so called quick fix turned into a 10+ years eating disorder. That's a whole different topic in itself. Book is in the process of being written on that so don't worry you will be able to read about the horror of it all soon.

The word  Progress means : movement forward or toward a place
The key word in that is MOVEMENT!
Where are you headed? What is your destination? Is is weight loss, education, debt free?  I challenge you today to write it down, make a plan, set your goals, and most importantly, don't focus on how long it will take! Just KEEP GOING! By taking one step at a time in the RIGHT direction (forward) you WILL arrive at your DESTINYation!
Oh and by the way the direction your going makes a difference! You can't go forward and backwards at the same time.

GO GIRL! YOU CAN DO IT!

It's so amazing how a turn of events can bring people together. Myself along with a few other strangers were all nestled together at the beach as if we've known each other for years, camera phones in hand, "Oohing" and "cheering" all in unison, each uniquely captivated by this one turtles seemingly futile struggle to make it on top of a rock. And I say futile in the most compassionate sense. We watched for what seemed like hours as this turtle would swim with all his might to make it on top of this one particular rock to only be swept back out into the water by a tiny little water wave each time. Those of us on the side lines all agreed that if we could we would pick him up and set him on the rock and his struggle would be over.

After countless tries, you could hear the cheering, clapping of hands, and see the jumping up and down we did as the Turtle FINALLY made it to the place he struggled to get to, the place he never gave up trying to reach (even when it seemed hopeless)!

As I walked away satisfied and full of joy for this Turtle, immediately God dropped this blog in my spirit.

Are you trying to lose weight? Go back to school? Work in Ministry? Start a business? Just plain do what God has called you to do and the process or path to reach your goal seems to be too hard, you've tried and nothing seems to be changing, it's taking too long or maybe your just flat out tired! Right?  One thing I've learned is that if you quit, you for sure will NEVER reach your goal PERIOD! So let's just scratch that idea right off the list.

As we watched the turtle being swept back out into the water, I remember not being able to see him for a couple of minutes and thinking he had given up but then all of a sudden we would see his head pop up out the water headed back to try again! Wow! What determination! What a fighter!

Well I'm standing on the side line cheering you on girl! God has a purpose and a plan for you and the devil wants you to give up, say forget it, put it off, compare your progress with others, compare yourself with others and say I CAN'T do this! But you have to speak to the fighter in you and tell your self YOU CAN DO THIS!! You can make it! Don't focus on the process, but focus on the end result!
Don't focus on the time, just keep moving! Don't focus on the hard days! Just keep going!
Everyday you keep fighting is another day you are closer to your goal!

When you find your self getting irritated, on edge, frustrated and annoyed on the journey then that's the moment to stop, take a break, ask The Lord for peace and re-group!  He has already given you the grace to do whatever He has called you to do! So GO GIRL! You can do it!!

"I Quit"

That’s what I rolled over in the bed and said to my husband this morning. Yesterday was a MUCH better day for me; prayer last night on the YMA prayer call was really good, my employee told me what a good job I was doing at work yesterday, payday Friday was coming and there was still money in my account on Thursday, so I was happy.

Friday morning was a different story…

And honestly, I couldn’t tell you what happened in those wee hours in the morning to change my emotions from happy to sad so quickly, but something did happen, and now I was considering a quest to find a new job that would finally make me “happy,” so I wanted to quit!!

How many times have we said or actually done that in our lives? When different situations arise in our lives, we flat-out quit because life has now gotten too tough. It felt really good when the Pastor gave you praise for singing good on Sunday morning, but now that you have 6 more singing engagements and your children have put you in a bad mood today, you don’t want to sing THAT much…so you quit!

We’ve quit:

Jobs
Marriages
School
Church auxiliaries
Church positions
A whole church
Trying to look for a job
Trying to look for a better job
Trying to better ourselves
Forgiving ourselves
Forgiving others
Loving our enemies
Being patient with our children

And the list goes on…

Think about it ladies, because of our emotions we’ve moved outside the will of God; because remember if the Lord called you to a station, HE MUST RELEASE YOU when he’s ready for you to move on. You don’t release yourself. And wasn’t life MISERABLE when you did quit too early? When you allowed your emotions to move you, to do something God didn’t sanction what happened? Your money got funny, change got strange, children started to act up, husband started to act up, the dog started to act up, you lost your peace and your joy, your girlfriends stopped calling etc.

So, today when your emotions tell you to QUIT because a situation is too hard,, tell your emotions “Thank you for your opinion, but no thank you” because Romans 8:31 says If God be for us, who can be against us?

If God has placed you in that marriage, that church auxiliary, that job or that church he has equipped you to take on the challenges that WILL arise. There is no one or no-thing that is strong enough to come against You + GOD and win!! Don’t Be Discouraged. Tough it out. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.

Don’t Quit!!

I CONFESS!

It’s interesting how we listen, embrace and believe the negative things AND lies people say to us and about us. Sometimes we take it as gospel! If they say it, then it must be true. Your ugly, fat, a loser, weak, stupid, too dark, too light, too skinny, not loved, never gonna be nothing and on and on. (yep I said gonna! It just flowed better LOL)

BUT The bible tells us exactly who we are! And IT IS GOSPEL! We can listen, embrace and believe IT!

I challenge you today to join me in combat! We combat (fight) against those lies with the TRUTH! Listed below is the TRUTH found in the Word of God; 40 I AM’S. Confess these DAILY! Why daily? Because REPETITION is a basic technique for learning, and repeated exposure to the information helps you retain the information.

I CONFESS! Will you?

Confessing the 40 I AM’S on a daily basis will cause you to see yourself the way God sees you. When you begin to see yourself from God’s perspective then the opinion of men, the devil, even that voice in your own mind can’t deceive you. You are who God says you are.

SPARKED!

I read a quote by Tom Ziglar today that said: “WHAT YOU FEED YOUR MIND-DETERMINES YOUR APPETITE.” A simple yet thought provoking statement. It was as if it was just for me.

One thing I’ve learned on this journey is you must stop along the way from time to time and do a SELF check and make sure you are continuing to grow and progress, and this statement definitely SPARKED a Self Check moment in me. What have I been feeding my mind? What have I been watching, reading, and listening to?

The word APPETITE it is a DESIRE or liking for something, an inherent CRAVING, taste & preference. So my APPETITE, DESIRE, CRAVING, TASTE and PREFERENCE comes from whatever I’m feeding my mind. Hmm… It would be great to say I’ve been feasting on nothing but the Word of God and my appetite is the witness! But can I honestly say that?

Ok SELF Check time. Won’t you join me?  1. What am I listening to?  2. What am I watching on TV?  3. Am I Praying daily?  4. Am I reading the Word of God daily?  5. What am I looking at on the internet?

Ok let’s be honest, I definitely see room for improvement! How about you?

ALMOST SLIPPED!

A few days ago it supposedly shocked us all because it snowed! Well Truthfully we know Michigan weather and it should come as no surprise to see snow in the beginning of April.

That morning I ran to the store to grab a few things and on my way back to my car I slipped on ice that I didn’t see and ALMOST fell! I instantly said ” JESUS PLEASE don’t let me fall!” With an emphasis on please!

As I got in the car The Lord dropped in my spirit; that’s the same attitude we should have when we almost “slip” on this spiritual journey.

When the enemy shows up, this too should come as no surprise!
He will come and try to make us slip and fall along the way. But we must not only respond but respond instantly JESUS PLEASE don’t let me fall! Jude says He is able to keep us from falling!

Isn’t that good news!!!

TOMORROW!

If it’s one thing that I have learned lately, it’s that TOMORROW is really not promised! Yea I know we’ve heard it growing up and we say it, I know I do, but when this truth hits close to home then it becomes more of a reality.

It’s the day that people use time and time again as THE day that their change is going to happen. Drug addicts say this is my last time and I will stop TOMORROW, those who want to start a diet say they will start TOMORROW and I will start exercising TOMORROW.  I’m reminded of the lyrics to an old song that says: TOMORROW, I’ll give my life TOMORROW, I thought about today, but it’s so much easier to say’ TOMORROW…

We spend so many “TODAYS” being sad, depressed, angry, miserable, mad, frustrated, self haters and feeling hopeless in hopes that TOMORROW will bring about this miraculous change so much so that  we begin to take the simple things in life for granted today i.e; a hug from your children, a walk down the street, your kids making a mess but actually just playing, a phone call from a friend, a text from your boo etc…waiting for this big grand turn around TOMORROW.

I wonder what it would it be like if we started saying TODAY! I will make a change TODAY! I will give my life TODAY! I will forgive TODAY! I will start my diet TODAY! I will be happy TODAY! I will smile TODAY! I will enjoy life TODAY! I will love ME today! TODAY TODAY TODAY!

There’s no better time like the present-TODAY!

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Hmmm I wasn’t sure what to focus on today seeing that I have so many points of interest running through my mind! It’s been a week like none other and the memories of it all keep captivating my thoughts!

Today I preached a message entitled “Enough Is Enough.” Have you ever felt like Enough of THIS (whatever your THIS is) is ENOUGH? Depression, Insecurity, Lack, Poverty, Pain, Emotional Instability, Unforgiveness, Bitterness, Weight Issues, Addiction and on and on and on. When you get to a point of being sick and tired of being sick and tired and you finally say (and mean it) ENOUGH IS ENOUGH then you are at the right place at the right time!

It takes this type of mind set for you to be honest with YOURSELF, acknowledge there is a problem, face your issue head on and bring it to a halt! I’ve learned through past experiences that honesty is the initiator to freedom!
And I don’t know about you but FREEDOM feels great to ME!

AND ANOTHER JOURNEY BEGINS

Wow! A new journey so soon after I embarked on the last “new journey.” Well I guess maybe I’m getting brave as I grow up. Lol. But actually I feel BeYOUtiful!! Well I felt fantabulous before and I say that in the most humbling manner I can muster up, but shoot when you’ve been delivered from insecurity it feels great to look in the mirror and love the person looking back at you!

The fact that I actually went through with it is shocking to say the least! because many, including myself never thought I would change my “signature look” but I guess I’ve learned never say never.

I’ve actually been natural for at least 17 years now but I have been wearing my “natural hair” in a bun and not taking care of my hair at all, so the thought of healthy hair went right out the window. I decided I’d better make a painful or so I thought, change! Wow was I wrong!

And the journey began…
I went to the salon, got my hair washed, cut, blow dried and pressed and I painstakingly wore that straight look for a week in dire need of my signature BUN! But I KNEW I’d better keep on this new journey or my now thinning edges would be bald! Ouch! Ok so that look wasn’t working for me so I decided I would do my hair in a flat twist out style and hope and PRAY I would at least like it. (I just did a cartwheel) lol! I LOVE MY NEW LOOK!!!

HOLLYWOOD or HOLYWORD?

Society, magazines, the media and “Hollywood” etc…will try to dictate what we should wear, what we should look like, how much we should weigh and what is beautiful.

If we don’t fit into their mold, match their pattern, or measure up to their standards then we are not considered beautiful, not acceptable, not fabulous, not not not!

BUT I declare that I am what the HOLY WORD says that I am and NOT what HOLLYWOOD says I should be!

How about you?

I TOOK THE PLUNGE!

Well this is it. I am actually blogging. I wasn’t sure if this is a journey I should embrace, seeing as I am not much of a talker. I am not “long winded” or “chatty” as they say. So the thought of blogging also brought a little bit of reservation, because I see a lot of blogs that are lengthy to say the least. But as I began to think about the purpose of Free2Bme Ministries, I decided I would take the plunge. If I can post just ONE word that can encourage a woman, young lady or girl to embrace their “YOUniqueness”  then it’s worth the journey. I’m reminded of a quote by Aibileen from the movie The Help “YOU is kind, YOU is smart, YOU is important!
yes, I am talking to YOU!
